BE AN ACTIVE PARTNER: Somebody who is involved in an activity with somebody else. That's us!
Evidence: Parents go beyond normal limits to enroll their children in Princeton. They know that total involvement is expected of the parents, children and staff. Research shows that this is a big part of student success. Parents and staff members are willing to go beyond the minimum expectations just to increase the success rate of children. Everyone is responsible for his/her part and is accountable to one another.
Invest: To contribute time, energy, or effort to an activity, project, or undertaking in the expectation of a benefit, or a future return. That's us!
Evidence: (1) Staff members join the team knowing the expectations for excellence. Each Princeton staff member displays a strong work ethic, a commitment to continuous professional development in learning better ways to meet the needs of students and how to communicate with parents, community members and other stakeholders. Princeton staff expectations for themselves are very high which can be seen through the investment of time, effort, and resources to be prepared for each day.
(2) Parents have agreed verbally and otherwise to be a part of the PTA, parent seminars, sneak previews and conferences to ensure the success of their children. Princeton parents know that they can not shift this responsibility onto the school or anyone else. Princeton Parents understand that “Parents are a child’s first and most influental teachers.” Princeton Parents know that their partnership make the difference at Princeton Elementary School.
Investment: Time, effort, money, talents, abilities that are invested with the goal of making a profit; a contribution of something such as time, energy, or effort to an activity, project, or undertaking, in the expectation of a benefit.
According to this review of recent research published by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (2002), students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to:

Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs

Be promoted, pass their classes and earn credits

Attend school regularly

Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school

Graduate and go on to post-secondary education
Furthermore, studies show that families of all income and education levels, and from all ethnic and cultural groups, are engaged in supporting their children's learning at home. That's us!
